Pastor Craig I. Carter serves as the Senior Pastor of Williams Temple COGIC. Born in Huntsville, Texas, he was raised in Houston, Texas. He is a proud Veteran of the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1987.

Pastor Carter has over 30 years of ministerial training and service, including extensive outreach ministry experience in street, prison, and hospital ministries. He and his family joined Williams Temple in April 1963, and he received his ordination in 1985 under the leadership of Bishop Robert E. Woodard Sr. He served faithfully under Bishop Robert E. Woodard Sr., Bishop Robert E. Woodard Jr., and Pastor John E. Landrum in Tacoma, Washington, where he ministered for five years.

His ministry experience includes street outreach in Tacoma, Washington, and Houston’s Third Ward. He also preached and ministered in prisons and hospitals throughout Washington State for more than four years. Pastor Carter has traveled extensively across the United States, spreading the Gospel and training fellow laborers in effective soul-winning techniques.

In February 2004, Pastor Carter founded The Living Word Church of Houston, a Bible-based and Bible-teaching ministry known for its loving and caring congregation. On December 19, 2017, he was appointed Senior Pastor of Williams Temple by Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake. At that time, members of The Living Word Church followed their pastor and became part of the Williams Temple family.

Pastor Carter is happily married to his wife, Angel Carter. He is the proud father of three outstanding children and two grandchildren. He considers it an honor to serve the people of God and does so wholeheartedly.
